Security Tips
Some tips to keep your Bike safe
- When you’re not on it, make sure your bike is secured to a fixed object at all times.
- At home, keep it in a locked shed and chained to a fixed object.
- Chain it around the frame rather than the front wheel.
- Use steel hardened chains and locks as these can’t be cut with bolt cutters, thieves will need an angle grinder or an oxy welder.
- Make sure you are not being followed home – drive a different way each time, if you think you are being followed, drive around the block.
- Wash your bike at a car wash, not out the front of your house.
- Take your bike around the back when you get home, don’t leave it out the front for all to see.
- Try not to start up your bike at home as you only advertise you have one.
- When advertising your bike for sale, give a mobile number, not your home number as your address can be traced by your home number.
- Get their number & call them back – keep their number in case something happens.
- Meet them somewhere else and take a mate with you – make sure you are not being followed home.
- Don’t let them take it for a test ride – as you may never see it again.
- Get a dog! The yappier the better.
By trying to prevent YOUR bike from being stolen, we can keep the cost of insurance down.
